Swing Stage Rescue

Course Aim: This course is designed to give candidates the necessary skills to perform the setup of independent lifelines in order to work safely in swing stages. Our swing stage emergency training also teaches candidates how to perform emergency recovery operations of suspended or incapacitated workers in the event of a swing stage collapse or disablement. Candidates will also gain the necessary skills to be able to perform an emergency evacuation out of a swing stage.

Course Duration: 8 hours


PUAEME001B Provide Emergency Care,
HLTFA201B Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, RIIOHS204A Work Safely at Heights or equivalent.


By the end of the course, the student will be able to:

Demonstrate knowledge of:

  • Rescue, evacuation and associated height safety equipment
  • Capabilities and limitations of rescue equipment
  • Pre and post use equipment inspection
  • Anchorage points and rigging
  • Organizational policies and procedures
  • Controlling an emergency
  • Individual and team safety
  • Procedures for reporting injuries and accidents
  • Relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Safety precautions

Demonstrate skills in:

  • Identifying and monitoring hazards
  • Identify and safely use emergency recovery and evacuation equipment
  • Casualty management
  • Wearing PPE in accordance with organisational requirements
