Course Aim: This course is designed to give candidates the necessary skills respond to a variety of emergency situations that may occur whilst working on Tower Cranes such as a post fall recovery of a suspended casualty, the safe evacuation of an injured person off the deck or towers and the emergency selfevacuation of a crane operator.

Course Duration: 8 hours

COURSE PRE-REQUISITES

PUAEME001B Provide Emergency Care or
HLTFA201B Provide Basic Emergency Life Support.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Tower Crane rescue equipment and techniques
  • Capabilities and limitations of rescue equipment
  • Pre and post use equipment inspection
  • Anchorage points and rigging
  • Organizational policies and procedures
  • Controlling an emergency
  • Individual and team safety
  • Procedures for reporting injuries and accidents
  • Relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Safety precautions

Demonstrate skills in:

  • Identifying and monitoring hazards
  • Identifying and using rescue equipment
  • Casualty management
  • Wearing PPE in accordance with organisational requirements
